Today was one of those days. I ventured out into the light, (Ouch it's so bright) with my fellow nerds visiting the Philadelphia Convention Center where they held Wizard World /Comic Con 2011 .We took the train into Philadelphia (Best way to get to Philly by the way) arriving early to make sure that we had time for breakfast before the day of science-fiction satisfaction. After obtaining sustenance we proceeded to the back of the line. With only approximately 200 to 300 people in front of us we entered the convention center fairly quickly to bask in the lights of the vendors, comic book resellers, moviemakers and other fantasy aficionados.
We ran into Princess Leah on the way in the door, some armed Storm Troopers, (not so scary) as well as Lord Vader! As you can see from the photo Mr. Vader, I mean "Lord Vader" was quite intimidating.

Some of the other things to see at the Philadelphia, Comic Con 2011 were some of the automobiles of some of our favorite 70s and 80s television shows. We took some photos of the General Lee and the police car from the Dukes of Hazard that often chased Bo and Luke. We took a few moments to go back in time with the DeLorean from Back to the Future. Although these are some great cars I would have to say that my vehicle of choice would be the original Batmobile.
Some actors of interest, at least my interest, were John Snyder from Smallville as well as Adam Baldwin from Firefly. Although I prefer Adam Baldwin in Firefly, I know a few people that regard him highly as the famous "Animal Mother". Either way he is a great actor!
While the vehicles were spectacular and the actors were great to see, some of the best things about Comic Con in Philadelphia are the people that dressed up. One of my favorites was a girl who dressed up as the Dr. Who TARDIS. She had a dress that was as blue as the TARDIS, a spectacular little lighted hat and a sign on her dress that said police box. Bravo! I commended her for her originality! It seemed that she and a friend were doing interviews for website.
We also saw a female version of flash sitting next to Wonder Woman and G.I.Jane versus Cobra. While these characters are very cool another great character from Ghostbusters is the Stay Puff Marshmallow Man. He seemed normal human size today as opposed to his gigantic size of destructiveness.
One of the comic books that I do collect is a comic called Black Bastard. It is designed by Matthew Mohammed who is the writer and publisher. Matthew came always down from Toronto for the Philadelphia, this year which I greatly appreciate as I
was able to get his latest two comics. If you have a chance check out his website theblackbastard.com.
Zombie fans are never forgotten. If you are a zombie fan you can also meet some of the characters from one of the best shows on
television, The Walking Dead. Some of the young actors from the show were at the Philadelphia Comic Con. That brings me to the next fun and exciting zombie filled event. We found a table for the Philadelphia Zombie Prom which will be on Saturday, September 24 at the Trocadero. Here is the website for more information phillyzombiecrawl.com
To end the day, I had walked by one of my favorite superheroes of them all, Lou Ferrigno who played the Incredible Hulk. Lou Ferrigno, at age 59 is awesome and it is incredibly nice guy. If you ever go, show l recommend you go meet Lou and introduce yourself.
